Drivers, take note: A portion of Walnut Grove Road directly in front of the Water Pollution Control Plant will close from Saturday, May 23rd, through Friday, July 31st. The city plans to keep the road open at both ends. Hence, businesses and properties remain accessible, but the section immediately adjacent to the plant will remain fully blocked during construction.

Crews will use the closure to safely install large pipes that cross the roadway and connect the existing facility to its expansion. Officials scheduled the work for the summer months, when traffic volumes are typically lighter, to help limit disruptions for regular travelers.

This project forms a key part of the Water Pollution Control Plant expansion. It will boost the plant’s treatment capacity from 15 million gallons per day to 25 million gallons per day. City leaders say the added capacity supports continued residential and industrial growth in Bartow County and ensures the system meets future demand.

The contractor aims to finish early and reopen the road by July 31st. However, officials advise the public that the closure could remain in place until August 4th. Motorists should follow posted detours, obey all traffic control signs, and allow extra time for travel in the area.
