Cartersville firefighters responded to 9 Galway Drive in the Waterford subdivision early Friday morning to what turned out to be a fatal single-family residential fire. Here is Fire Chief Scott Carter:
The fire appears to have been at the top of the structure. None of the surrounding houses have damage.
First responders pronounced a ten-year-old boy dead on the scene.
The Cartersville Fire Department, the Georgia State Fire Marshals Office, and the Bartow County Medical Examiner & Coroner’s Office are working together to determine the cause.
