Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash with a fire on I-75 southbound at around the Cartersville East Main Street exit on Sunday night at around 8:00.

The crash involved a 2006 Nissan Altima, occupied by a 32-year-old male driver, a three-year-old female, and an eight-month-old male. The other vehicle involved was a tractor-trailer which was disabled on the right shoulder.

The Nissan was traveling south on I-75. The driver of the Nissan failed to maintain his lane of travel, exited onto the right side of I-75, and struck the left rear of the tractor-trailer. After impact, the Nissan came to a final uncontrolled rest in the middle lane of travel, becoming engulfed in flames.

Good samaritans removed the occupants from the Nissan.

The three-year-old passenger was life-flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The driver and the eight-month-old were transported to Kennestone Hospital via ambulance.

The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with this investigation. These are the preliminary investigated findings, and this crash is still under investigation.
