A large crowd packed the Emerson City Council meeting Monday night, rallying in strong support for Terminus Wake Park as the popular cable wakeboarding facility faces potential closure.
Terminus founder Chase Andrews announced on Instagram last week that Lakepoint has ended the park’s lease. As a result, the facility now confronts closure. Andrews explained in a video that the Lakepoint board plans to sell the property, leaving the decision beyond the park’s control.
Community members spoke passionately during the public comment period. Assistant general manager Jackson Kauffmann highlighted the park’s achievements, proudly noting that 2025 was its best year to date—despite the uncertainty hanging over its future.
19-year-old Rivers Hedrick, a world-champion wakeboarder, shared an emotional testimony about the profound personal impact Terminus has had on her life.
Emerson Mayor Bo Jordan addressed the supportive crowd directly. He stated his belief that the matter remains strictly between Lakepoint and Terminus, and that the City of Emerson should not become involved. “If I could, I’d fix it today,” Jordan said, “but I can’t.”
Chase Andrews also spoke to the council, expressing heartfelt thanks for their ongoing support throughout the years.
