Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today the identities of the two people killed in a Bartow County Fire. The fire occurred at 170 Oak Leaf Drive SW in Cartersville around 7:02 p.m. on Sunday, April 4. The fire destroyed the 1,700-square-foot structure, which was approximately 35 years old.
Two residents, 72-year-old Cynthia Beard and 20-year-old Johnathan Cleek, were home at the time of the fire and tragically passed as a result. The origin and cause of this event are still under active investigation at this time. The state’s Fire Investigations Division assisted the Bartow County Fire Department on this case.
These mark the 46th and 47th deaths from fires in Georgia in 2021.
