Black ice is possible across a portion of North Georgia overnight tonight until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures rose above freezing over most of the area today, which allowed for melting of any ice that had accumulated. Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid 20s overnight. As a result, there will be a re-freezing of any water left on the roads.

This will result in patches of black ice (especially on bridges and overpasses) until around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. This includes the Atlanta metro area.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use extra caution during the morning commute and be alert for isolated slick spots.
