Sheriff Clark Millsap cautions Bartow County Citizens of scam telephone calls after he has received numerous complaints from residents of callers identifying themselves as deputy sheriffs from other counties with warrants for their arrest.
These call scammers will attempt to explain that there has been a warrant issued for the individual and give instructions to the victim on how they need to pay to have the warrant dismissed, or they will arrested them.
Sheriff Millsap warns that this is not how law enforcement handles the processing of warrants, and a Sheriff’s Office will not demand money or notify an individual of a warrant over the phone. Sheriff Millsap wants to ensure the people that these calls are a complete scam and that citizens should never provide any personal information to telephone solicitors.
If you feel you have been a victim of this type of scam, you may contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-382-5050.
