A small section of Tanyard Creek Road that goes over water near the boat ramp will be closed for at least a week after a hole was discovered there late Friday night.

According to Bartow County Road Director Joe Sutton, the hole was caused when an old pipe that is under the road collapsed. This is an isolated incident and no other holes are expected to form nearby.

Sutton said that he has to get a new pipe ordered, which will take about four to five days to arrive. On top of that, there is a water line and an AT&T line in that area that need to be moved so the road department can repair the road. Therefore, it will be at least a week before this section of Tanyard Creek Road will be repaired and reopened.
