David Glen Morris

A Bartow County deputy was dispatched to a residence on Knucklesville Road in Rydal on Saturday night in reference to a domestic problem in progress.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with the complainant who stated her ex-boyfriend David Morris was attempting to remove her from the property by force.

She stated she was renting from David’s mother and that she had missed a rent payment. She had told David’s mother to evict her through the Magistrate Court. David then went over and started removing her items from the house. She confronted David and that’s when David struck her. She ran inside the residence and locked the doors. David forced his way into the residence by breaking the glass on the side door. While she was on the phone with emergency services, David grabbed her by the hair and started punching her. He then grabbed her by the throat and started to choke her. David finally let her go and left the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival.

The deputy observed several minor injuries on her. She was asked several times if she needed medical treatment and she refused. She did have marks on her forehead indicating she had been struck. Her neck was also red and swollen.

The deputy relocated to the suspect’s residence on Highway 140 in Rydal and made contact with David. David stated he was in an altercation with the complainant about her not paying rent and that he wanted her out of the house. David admitted to breaking the glass to get into the residence and then stated “I guess I gotta take a ride”. David was placed in handcuffs and searched for weapons. Inside his left cargo pocket was an extensive amount of cash. When questioned about the cash, David stated he was going to use it to bond himself out.

David was transported to the Bartow County Jail and released to jail staff with no further incident.

Due to the physical evidence and testimony, warrants for burglary, aggravated assault by strangulation, and battery were secured against David.
