Protesters had many things to say to the Bartow County School Board during a work session at the board’s central office Monday night. The citizens were unhappy with how they’ve handled controversial social media posts.

In a Facebook post referring to protesting and demonstrations in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minnesota, Board member Terry Lee Eggert stated, “Rubber bullets do nothing. Time for real ammo. Then and only then will this nonsense of looting, attacks on citizens, and destruction of property stop.”

On July 8th, a motion to hold a hearing to determine if there was a board violation made by Eggert failed by a two to three vote. Eggert was one of the dissenting voters.

Throughout the night, many others voiced frustrations over the need for Eggert to resign.

Some also wanted to see an Adairsville Elementary teacher disciplined over a social media post. She stated the protests and riots were “just an excuse for them to be the thugs they are.”
