A local man was killed in a traffic accident in Cartersville Thursday morning.
At around 7:25, 64-year-old Ricky Kilgore of Cartersville was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon east on Collins Drive. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Kilgore tried to make a right turn onto Joe Frank Harris Parkway when a 2015 Dodge Ram, driven by 30-year-old Tyler Selph of Cartersville, was traveling south on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in the right lane.
The investigation states that Kilgore failed to yield while entering Joe Frank Harris Parkway and his Neon crossed into the Ram’s lane of travel, causing the Ram to hit the Neon’s driver’s side.
The Neon went to an uncontrolled rest facing south on the raised concrete median and the Ram went to an uncontrolled rest facing east on the raised concrete median directly in front of the Neon. Kilgore suffered a fatal injury as a result of the crash.
