A former senior leader at Advocates for Children now faces two fresh misdemeanor charges of public indecency in addition to 31 earlier charges.

Prosecutor Andrew R. Chandler swore out the new warrants on Monday against 64-year-old Scott Alan Sherwin of Rome. Bartow County Magistrate Judge Freddie L. Gunn signed them.

The affidavits state that Sherwin committed both offenses at the Advocates for Children building on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Bartow County.

On March 30th, 2024, authorities say he stood in the men’s public restroom, took a nude photo exposing his private parts in front of the mirror, and later posted it to his Twitter account JaviGomez1951.

On Halloween, October 31st, 2024, he allegedly did it again—posing with his private parts pushed through a “Trick or Treat” decoration in the same bathroom and posting that image online too.

Sherwin is in the Bartow County Jail after deputies arrested him on March 5th at his Rome home. He faces 15 counts of sexual extortion and 15 counts of first-degree forgery for allegedly demanding nude photos from a male victim in exchange for falsifying that victim’s community service hours at the same center. He also faces one count of false statements.

Advocates for Children fired Sherwin immediately after learning of the investigation on February 26th. The nonprofit stresses he never harmed any child in its care and says it cooperated fully with authorities.

Sherwin remains in custody.
