Our look at local museum happenings this week first takes us to Booth Western Art Museum, where they are holding an opening reception for a primary and elementary schools art exhibition on Thursday from five to seven p.m. Attendees can see the art, meet the student artists, and enjoy light refreshments.

Saturday from ten a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Brownie scouts can experience the fun and exciting side of chemistry at Tellus Science Museum. Brownies will complete four activities toward the Home Scientist badge and receive directions to finish a fifth fun activity at home. This workshop is full of messy, scientific fun, including bubbles, ice cream, and a visit to the Collins Family My Big Backyard gallery. Registration for this program closes at noon tomorrow. To register or for more information, visit tellusmuseum.org.

Savoy Automobile Museum invites you and your kids to a special movie screening of “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” at their theater on Saturday afternoon at 2:00. There is no additional cost outside museum admission. For more information, visit savoymuseum.org.

The Booth Western Art Museum invites members to an exclusive opening of their newest exhibit, Barbara Van Cleve: Women of the West, on Saturday. At six o’clock, the museum invites all members to its Bergman Theatre for a panel discussion with the artists, followed by a book signing. Advance registration is required.
