Press Release:
On 3/11/14 (Tuesday) the Georgia Bureau of Investigation received information the murder suspect (Skyy Mims) was staying at a residence on Southmont Drive in Bartow County. The GBI contacted the U. S. Marshall Service (Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force) and provided them with the location. Surveillance was initiated on the residence by the Marshall’s Task Force and the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force. At approximately 5:33p.m. after detecting some movement in the residence the officers made entry and located the suspect. The suspect attempted to flee from the officers but was quickly taken into custody. The suspect has been brought back to Whitfield County and booked on the Murder charge.
A team of Investigators from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office were in Bartow County and executed a search at the residence for evidence. A vehicle the suspect has been traveling in was recovered at the residence and brought back to Whitfield County for processing. The vehicle (a Kia Soul) had been reported stolen in Michigan.
