FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

October 22, 2013

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for Deborah Lee Crawford, missing since August 19, 2013.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, his deputies first became aware of Crawford’s disappearance on August 29, 2013 when a friend reported to Canton Police that she had left Crawford in Bartow County jurisdiction.

The missing person investigation had started with Cobb Police which was Crawford’s resident jurisdiction, but was later transferred to Canton Police Department after a friend reported that she had left Crawford to meet a friend in the Kmart parking lot at 1750 Marietta Highway. Canton Police later discovered that the friend had given false information after disclosing that she did not leave Crawford there, but instead left her at a motel off I-75 at Cass-White Road in Bartow County on August 19th. The friend reported that she believed Crawford wanted to “get away” from her current life. The friend was later arrested by Canton Police for lying during the investigation.

Sheriff Millsap states that since August 19th, 2013, no one has been known to have seen or spoken with Crawford. It cannot be confirmed that Crawford was dropped off at the Cass-White Road motel, but investigators with Bartow County Sheriff’s Office continue to consider her missing from there without further information. Crawfords’ family is concerned about her well-being as they report that she has suffered from depression and may have undiagnosed mental disorders. Anyone with information about Crawford or this investigation is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-382-5050 extension 6032.Crawford1
