Downtown Cartersville Pleased to Welcome Mellow Mushroom
New eatery to offer handcrafted pizza, and local charm in historic building

CARTERSVILLE – Cartersville Downtown Development Authority is pleased to announce the intent of Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers to open a location at 28 S Wall Street in historic downtown Cartersville, Ga. Hoping for a December open date, Mellow Mushroom will be located on the corner of Main Street and Wall Street, in the site of the former Antonino’s Italian Grotto.

Mellow Mushroom focuses on local ownership and operation, believing that to be the best way to serve the customer and the local community, and at the same time convey the culture of the brand. As part of this philosophy, every Mellow Mushroom location is developed with a completely unique look and feel.  The Cartersville location will pay homage to vintage era of downtown Cartersville, highlighting the unique charm and character of the area with themed images of the EtowahRiver and other artistic tie-ins to the various retail outfitters in the downtown area.

Downtown Development Authority Manager Tara Currier talks excitedly about Mellow Mushroom coming to downtown. “Cartersville is a wonderful community full of art, history, music and the outdoors, which is an unparalleled match of perfection to Mellow Mushroom. This organization of over 150 restaurants has such a wonderful and unique concept, and I am thrilled to welcome the atmosphere and incredible food to downtown Cartersville.”

The menu will feature a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids, and those on a gluten free plan will also be available.

Mellow Mushroom’s belief in creativity and respect for the importance of the local arts are deeply rooted in the community. Founded in 1974 inAtlanta, Georgia, the franchise operates under Home-Grown Industries of Georgia, Inc., and for 39 years has been serving up fresh stone baked pizzas to-order in an eclectic, art-filled and family-friendly environment. Each Mellow is locally owned and operated with a unique feel focused around great customer service and high quality food, attracting visitors who often drive up to 100 miles to get to the nearest location.

Extensive planning is underway to bring this new adventure to the downtown area in late 2013. The restaurant will have something for everyone, including outside patio, a large spacious dining room and a full service bar.  The bar will serve up a variety of craft beers, wine and cocktail options.  This lively restaurant intends to feature trivia nights, family nights, beer tastings, special events and more.

Mellow Mushroom will operate 7 days a week Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
