Man Shot Outside Cartersville Apartment – Suspect Arrested

On Tuesday, dispatch sent Cartersville Police officers to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center about a male with gunshot wounds. Officers learned someone shot Carson Smith during a drug transaction in the parking lot of the Park at 366 apartments on Old Mill Road.

CPD Investigators identified 26-year-old Martiese Jamon McCay of Cartersville as the shooter in the investigation.

With assistance from the Cobb County Police Department, CPD investigators took McCay into custody later in the evening in Kennesaw.

McCay received charges for aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
