According to the Georgia State Patrol, Emerson Police were conducting a traffic stop on I-75 at mile marker 288 when shots were fired. The suspect, a 27-year-old white male, was shot. No officers were injured.
The patient lost his pulse while in the EMS vehicle. He was transported to Cartersville Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
All I-75 northbound lanes are now open.
