A black 2016 Honda Pilot SUV driven by a man from Eastman was traveling north on U.S. Highway 411 and made a U-turn just before the intersection with Center Street near Open Bible Wesleyan Church in Cartersville Saturday afternoon at around 12:49. A black 1993 Honda CBR sport bike being driven by 23-year-old Christian Soli of Adairsville was also traveling north on 411. The SUV driver said he looked ahead of and behind him, saw no one coming, and initiated the U-turn.

The accident investigation revealed that the SUV driver made an illegal U-turn, causing the sport bike to strike the SUV. The SUV sustained moderate damage on the driver’s side while the sport bike sustained severe front damage.

Soli ended up trapped under the car. He suffered several life threatening injuries and was initially transported to Cartersville Medical Center. Soli eventually had to be transported via helicopter to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, where he later died.

An investigation on the accident as well as who the at-fault party was is still ongoing at this time.
