A man was arrested at his residence on Connesena Road in Kingston early Saturday morning during a domestic dispute.
Two Bartow County deputies and a Georgia State Patrol trooper observed Derek Holt and a woman arguing on the front porch.
A deputy observed Holt approaching the woman in an intimidating manner and the woman yelling for him to stop and stay away from her. The officers approached Holt from behind. One of the deputies took Holt to the ground to subdue him. The trooper saw that Holt had a knife approximately six inches long and advised him to drop the knife several times. Holt did not let go of the knife and the trooper deployed his Taser, striking Holt in the abdomen. Holt let go of the knife and was placed under arrest.
The woman said Holt had been drinking alcohol and while driving him home, Holt started hitting and head-butting the truck window. During the argument, she said Holt grabbed the knife and threatened to hurt her. She also stated that Holt poured gasoline on the front porch, but made no comments about starting a fire.
Derek Holt was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, and obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers.
