The Bartow County Fire Department was notified about a fire in the woods in the Emerson area at around 3:30 Thursday afternoon. It was located on the west side of I-75 between mile markers 283 and 285.
There were no reported injuries and no structures put in danger, however the fire has produced smoke that has caused traffic on both sides of the interstate to slow down.
As of 9:30 Thursday night, breaks were successfully plowed around the fire. Eventhough it is still smoldering, the fire is contained.
At this time, it is unsure as to what caused the fire.
