The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Bartow County and portions of central and northwest Georgia from one to seven tomorrow afternoon. They expect heat index values up to 109 degrees.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Drink fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. You should move anyone overcome by heat to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.
The NWS expects hot weather to continue into the weekend.
