Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court against Cartersville-based SDG Impact Fund, Incorporated; its successor organization, SDG Global Impact Fund, Incorporated; executive director Anthony Suber; and former board member Bryan Doreian.
The complaint, filed September 25, alleges the defendants illegally distributed charitable assets and misled donors.
According to the Attorney General’s office, SDG Impact Fund operates as a 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors donor-advised funds. It solicits contributions—including cash, cryptocurrency, bonds, and other assets—from donors in Georgia, across the United States, and abroad. The group states it will direct those funds to charitable causes supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. At one point, the organization claimed it had raised more than $10 billion.
The lawsuit alleges that significant portions of those donations instead paid for personal expenses. These include vacations, attorneys’ fees, restitution in criminal cases, car loans, mortgages, private school tuition, and everyday purchases such as clothing, groceries, pet supplies, and sports equipment. The complaint further alleges the defendants solicited donations without proper legal authorization and concealed noncompliance with state and federal laws through in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, their website, and social media.
Attorney General Carr is asking the court to order restitution to donors, impose civil penalties of $5,000 for each alleged violation of the Fair Business Practices Act, and appoint a receiver to manage the defendants’ assets.
The defendants have not yet filed a formal response to the complaint. The case remains pending in Fulton County Superior Court.
