A five-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon on West Avenue and Cedar Lane in Cartersville injured three people.

All witness statements gathered on scene support the following chain of events. A black 2014 Honda Civic was weaving between lanes, passing vehicles on West Avenue on a double-yellow line while traveling west at high speed and operating recklessly. The Civic attempted to pass a black 2022 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west. In doing so, it collided with a black 2016 Toyota 4Runner, a red 2010 Ford Flex, and a white 2024 Ram pickup traveling east. The Civic came to final rest upright on the north side of the roadway, just on the other side of the sidewalk adjacent to the road.

The accident investigation revealed that the Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed. It struck the other four vehicles involved on their driver’s sides while attempting to drive between them in the middle of the roadway. Trucks towed the Civic, Flex, and Ram.

The Civic Driver was transported to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center by Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service with severe injuries to his head and torso. The 4Runner and Flex Drivers were transported to the medical center by the ambulance service with complaints of pain.

The Civic Driver was issued three citations – one for no insurance, one for failure to maintain lane, and one for reckless driving. The Flex Driver received one ticket for no proof of insurance.
