At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Monday, May 19th, the Cartersville Fire Department responded to a medical emergency at Qcells on Great Valley Parkway and Cassville Pine Log Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a mid-30s Hispanic male on top of a tank, unresponsive, with no pulse and not breathing. Fire Department crews utilized self-contained breathing apparatuses and conducted air monitoring while accessing and removing the patient from the tank.
The oxygen level at the top of the tank was around 15%, which is insufficient for survival. CFD personnel removed the patient, and a deputy coroner pronounced the man deceased. The coroner’s office is currently in the process of notifying the next of kin before releasing the man’s identity. The cause of death is under investigation, with a nitrogen leak being a possible factor, as no other chemicals or gases are used in the area. No further information is available now, and additional investigations by different agencies are pending.
