Several local Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadets will enjoy their first powered flights at the Cartersville Bartow Airport this Saturday, March 6th, between 10 am and 2 pm. Cadets will join an FAA licensed pilot and Senior CAP member in what are known as Orientation Flights. Under the supervision of the Senior Member, cadets will experience handling controls of a CAP-owned single-engine Cessna. Aerospace education is one of the main goals of the CAP cadet program, and Orientation Flights are a capstone event for cadets.

The Bartow-Etowah Squadron serves 18 cadets and eight senior members. Meetings are held each Tuesday at 7 pm, at 521 Martin Luther King Drive, Cartersville, next to the American Legion.
