Alexander Bradley Smart
A suspect shot and killed a local man on Wednesday night.
According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap, dispatch sent Uniform Patrol Deputies and Investigators to the area of Pine Ridge Drive northwest of Cartersville at around 7:20 about shots fired, which became a murder investigation at the south corner of Pine Ridge Drive and McTier Circle.
First responders located the victim of the residence, 47-year-old Michael Douglas Gravely, between two outside buildings at a nearby home with a gunshot to his lower back. Gravely received emergency first aid medical attention on scene and was transported to a nearby hospital by Emergency Medical Services, where he later died due to his injuries.
Deputies took 34-year-old Alexander Bradley Smart of Taylorsville into custody nearby without further incident and charged him with murder.
Smart is in the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center without bond. There is no further information at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
