Tony Eugene Barron

WBHF has obtained the official report from Georgia State Patrol concerning the fatal accident that claimed the life of 34-year-old Russell Steven Carr of 146 Rolling Hills Drive in Cartersville on December 1st.

The report states that Carr was driving his cruiser motorcycle south on Rolling Hills Drive. At around 5:55 that rainy morning, Tony Eugene Barron of 103 Rolling Hills Drive was backing a pickup truck out of a private driveway facing south, but did not see the motorcycle. The manner of collision was a sideswipe between the ten o’clock position (or front left) of the motorcycle and the two o’clock position (or front right) of the truck. After impact at the dark driveway intersection, Barron left the scene of the crash, traveling south. Carr was taken to Kennestone Hospital by Metro EMS, where he later died.

A mailbox from the private driveway was struck during the collision, but the property owner declined a report and stated he would fix it himself.

The area of impact was determined by witness statements and video evidence recorded from a residence.

Tony Barron was booked into the Bartow County Jail on December 7th and charged with homicide by vehicle, failure to report an accident resulting in death, hit and run, knowingly driving a motor vehicle when the vehicle registration is suspended, canceled, or revoked, failure to comply with insurance requirements for operation of a motor vehicle, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and felony violation of probation.
