Cartersville Man Accused of Child Molestation

Law enforcement arrested 47-year-old Bernard Thompson of Cartersville in Rome after Coosa Valley News reported Thursday that he tried to meet up and engage in sexual relations with a child under 16 years.

Thompson allegedly engaged in graphic written material describing sex acts he wanted to perform on the child. Police added that he then set up a meeting space to where he was to meet this child in Floyd County.

Officers were there to arrest Thompson at the meeting spot.

Thompson is charged with child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
