In setting the current fiscal year budget, the Cartersville City Council has announced its intention to increase the property taxes it will levy this year by one mil. The impact on the median Cartersville home valued at $170,000 would be an additional $68 in City property taxes each year.

Before the city council finalizes the millage rate, Georgia law requires three public hearings to be held to allow the public an opportunity to express their opinions on the increase.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase in the city council chambers at City Hall Thursday morning at 9:00, Thursday night at 7:00, and on Thursday night August 15th at 7:00.
