The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning death of a Euharlee teen at a Lake Allatoona marina.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, just before midnight Saturday night, 18-year-old Chance Werner of Euharlee was with other teens and an adult at Holiday Harbor Marina (5989 Groovers Landing Road, Acworth, Bartow County, Georgia) playing at one of the docks. Three young men (including Werner) were pushing each other into the lake in a shopping cart and kept playing the game by pulling the cart up with a rope. Werner had the rope tied to his waist when the cart was pushed in and he was pulled in. Department of Natural Resources personnel recovered him from the lake several hours later.
