Following Superintendent John Harper’s recommendation of reducing the millage rate to 19.2 mills, the Bartow County Board of Education approved it four to one. Harper’s original recommendation was to maintain it at 19.4 mills. Finance Director Megan Brown stated that the 0.2 mil difference meant approximately $450,000 less for the school system.

Board member Fred Kittle was the dissenting vote, as he wanted it dropped to 18.029. We’ll have more during Bartow’s Morning News.
