During a Wednesday morning meeting at the Bartow County Courthouse, Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor officially decreased the millage rate for incorporated areas from 7.49 mills to 7.40 mills and the unincorporated regions from 6.97 mills to 6.87 mills. While it is the fifth consecutive millage rate decrease, property taxes will increase by 4.98 percent for unincorporated areas in Bartow County and 3.60 percent for incorporated areas.

In other business, Taylor approved an Upper Payment Limit grant application for Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation. This federal program provides additional funding to lower their patients’ costs.

He also approved a renewal of the annual incent grant funding for juvenile justice court programs, the fiscal year 2025 transit funding application, the de-annexation of four acres of a 17-acre property on Euharlee Five Forks Road from the city to the county for uniformity purposes, and a land use and rezoning change for property on Highway 411 between Reynolds Bridge Road and Hardin Bridge Road near Kingston to allow for a small portable batch concrete plant.
