Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators respond to Memorial Day rodeo gathering where gunshots were fired by multiple persons.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, just after 7:00PM Sunday night, Bartow County 911 began receiving calls that persons were firing shots into the crowd at the large Hispanic event on Fossetts Cove near Cassville in Bartow County. When deputies arrived, it was discovered that the crowd had captured one shooter and he was taken into custody. A second shooter had escaped prior to law enforcement arrival. Deputies discovered three persons had been shot, two were shot in the lower body and one had been shot in the neck. All three were transported to area hospitals and treated and released. A female victim had also been cut on the hand with a knife. She was also treated and released.

Sheriff Millsap reports that 25 year old Celestino Moras, of Austell, GA was arrested and after being treated for facial injuries at an area hospital he was taken to Bartow County Jail. He is currently being held on a charge of aggravated assault. Moras reportedly received the facial injuries when the crowd was taking him under control. Bartow County Investigators continued to work well into the night and this is still an active investigation. It was reported that the shooting started when those in attendance asked an intoxicated male to leave and he in turn pulled out a gun and started firing. There were estimated more than 300 persons in attendance at the time of the shootings.
