On Saturday afternoon, a Georgia State Patrol trooper responded to a one-vehicle crash involving a Mitsubishi box truck on State Route 140 near Landers Road east of Rydal.

The preliminary investigation determined the box truck was traveling east when it failed to maintain its travel lane by leaving the south side of State Route 140.

The driver, a 21-year-old male, overcorrected, causing the box truck to rotate counterclockwise into the westbound lane of State Route 140.

The driver again provided steering input causing the vehicle to turn clockwise.

The box truck traveled into the eastbound lane of State Route 140 and rolled onto its left side.

The box truck came to a final rest partially off the south side of State Route 140.

The driver suffered a severe injury. A helicopter airlifted him to an Atlanta hospital.

A 21-year-old passenger suffered no injuries.

The accident report is incomplete at this time.
