Today at approximately 10:30 a.m., a 2002 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Mac Johnson Rd. approaching River Birch Rd. The driver veered to the right, off of the roadway into a ditch and struck a tree.  The driver Gary Wayne Sweet, age 55 from Cartersville, was injured and airlifted to Grady Hospital.  The passenger, Mary Sweet, age 74 from Cartersville, was pronounced deceased on scene.  Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.  Charges are pending.
