The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes jumped all over the LaGrange Grangers on Friday night and cruised to a 45-7 win.
The Grangers had not allowed more than 14 points to a team all season long, but Cartersville surpassed that point total in the first quarter, as Cartersville led 17-0. The Canes scored on their opening drive which resulted in Tee Webb hitting Kaleb Chatmon in the end zone. Oscar Hernandez would kick a field goal, which would be followed by a Marcus Gary touchdown run to give Cartersville some cushion early on.
In the second quarter, Webb would connect with Devonte Ross and Marko Dudley for two touchdowns to give the Canes a 31-0 lead at the half.
The only blemish for Cartersville came on a LaGrange pick-six in the third quarter, which was returned 55 yards for a score. Cartersville would bounce back both defensively and offensively on touchdown passes to Jackson Lowe and Marquail Coaxum to give Cartersville its 45-7 win.
Cartersville is now 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in region play. Cartersville will hit the road next week to play Sandy Creek at 7:30 on a game you can hear on WBHF.
