Registration for the fall 2013 Walk Georgia Campaign will be available to Bartow County residents beginning Sep. 1. Walk Georgia is a 12-week program designed to increase physical activity of participants in a fun, community-oriented way. The goals of this program are to help participants:

  • Develop regular physical activity habits
  • Get healthier and more physically fit
  • Have fun!

“Bartow County residents who are interested in participating in Walk Georgia can sign up starting next week as an individual or as a team of four,” said Bartow County Extension Resource Manager Brielle Shinall. “A wide range of activities, like aerobics, biking, swimming and even bowling, can be logged into the Walk Georgia site. Each person who enters their exercise into the site will be able to track their progress using the online map to ‘walk’ Georgia, moving virtually throughout the state, and viewing fun facts about each county visited.”

“During the Walk Georgia campaign, everyone who registers will have access to weekly email newsletters. These newsletters will have helpful information like healthy lifestyle tips, recipes, success stories and program announcements. Anyone who is interested in participating in Walk Georgia or finding out more information can contact the Bartow County Extension Office or visit the Walk Georgia website,” said Shinall.
