Transport agent Brandy L. Carter was helping to transport several inmates (including Killion) from Florida to Indiana. She stated they had stopped at Pizza Hut on Merchants Square Drive to get food for the prisoners and have a restroom break. When Carter opened the back door to the transport van at around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, she was “bum rushed” by Killion.
Killion then ran off attempting to get in a white truck that was parked and running in the parking lot, but the truck was locked. Agent Carter then followed Killion around the building and across East Felton Road and was able to get her hands on him. When she grabbed him, Killion then pulled and pushed her to the ground. When Carter fell, she heard a “pop” in her right knee and was unable to walk on it. She last saw Killion jumping a fence heading towards Joe Frank Harris Parkway.
Sean Killion was shackled by his feet and handcuffed to his waist. Carter was 100% sure that he was shackled when he jumped out and ran.
Killion had previously escaped from a prisoner transportation service out of Nashville, TN. Killion was a fugitive from the U.S. Marshals, who came to Cartersville to assume control of the search.
However, at 11:37 Thursday morning, Cartersville Police informed us that they are now searching for Killion again. The U.S. Marshals explained that they were not handling the case because he was not yet in federal custody.
A private contracting company was transporting him. Sean Killion had an outstanding warrant for state probation violation charges in Indiana. Once he got to Indiana, he was going to be arrested by federal agents on federal drug charges.
UPDATE: On Friday at 8:10 AM, Cartersville Police Major Mark Camp issued the following statement via email:
“We have received credible information that Mr. Sean Killion is no longer in the Cartersville area. We will not be continuing the search for him.”
Sean Killion is a 42-year-old white male who is 6’0″ and 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with faded blue jeans.
