Chief Thomas Culpepper of the Cartersville Police Department has advised that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the July 29, 2013 shooting which took place in front of 24 Fredda Lane near Hannon Way in Cartersville. On Thursday, August 15, 2013, at approximately 3:05pm, officers and agents of the Cartersville Police Department, the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force, Parole, and FBI, executed a search warrant at 107 Dogwood Drive in Cartersville.
Arrested were Charles D. Roman, age 28 of Cartersville, and Patrick Dwight Winfield, age 36 of Atlanta. Roman, believed to be the shooter, is being charged with Aggravated Assault, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and one count of Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime. Winfield, who was present at the incident, is being charged with Terroristic Threats. Additional charges may be pending depending upon the outcome of the investigation. Both subjects are currently being held at the Bartow County Jail.
Chief Culpepper stated, “I am very pleased that we have these suspects in custody. I am also pleased with the cooperation between all of the agencies who were involved with the apprehension of these suspects. Our investigators have been working continuously on this case from the beginning and their hard work has paid off.”
The investigation is continuing.
