Thirty two year old Jamaal Williams, was shot in the chest and head at his apartment on Iron Belt Road around 1:00 p.m. According to a press release from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the apartment upon receiving a report of a man having issues with PTSD who was armed with a gun. A female flagged down officers and told them that she had just ran from apartment 307 and heard a gunshot. They located the man, identified as 32 year old, Truitt Jermaine Cousin of the same address. Cousin was acting extremely strange. According to those on the scene, he was screaming profanities and random words. Deputies then located a 32 year old, Williams inside the apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at Floyd Medical Center from his injuries.
Sheriff Clark Millsap said that this is an active investigation at this time. Cousin was taken into custody and is being held at the Bartow County Sheriff’ Office Jail on pending charges. He had no record with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office as he had reportedly just moved to the area.
