Press Release:

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Monday March 7, 2016 just before 10AM, family
members reported to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office that 30 year old Scott Salter had not
reported for work as a teacher at Cass High School this morning so they went looking for his
car. Salter’s white Toyota Avalon was located on Highway 20 Spur at the Cooper Furnace Trail
entrance which is a location Scott reportedly enjoyed hiking alone.
The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the Georgia Department of Natural
Resources Law Enforcement Division, Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division, Corps of Engineers,
FBI, and the City of Cartersville Police Department to search the area yesterday afternoon. Just
after 6PM, a Georgia State Patrol helicopter notified ground units of a possible location of the
missing man in a secluded rough terrain area off the trails. Deputies and DNR officers located
the body of Scott Salter. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had died from sustaining
accidental injuries.
