On December 20, 2014 Bartow County Shop with a Hero 2014 is gearing up for yet another successful day of Christmas shopping with the less fortunate children of Bartow County.

Each year the Bartow County Shop with a Hero takes 300 children shopping for Christmas at the Cartersville Walmart.  The children start their special day with a warm breakfast at the Clarence Brown Conference Center and have a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.  After breakfast, a raffle is held where one boy and one girl will receive a brand new bicycle that has been donated by Walmart.

The children are then loaded onto school busses and given a full Police/Fire/EMS escort (with lights and sirens) to Walmart.  When they arrive at Walmart, each child is paired with a “Hero” and is allowed to spend $150.00.  ($100.00 goes towards clothing items for the child and the other $50.00 goes towards whatever the child wants.)

To make this program successful, the Bartow County Shop with a Hero needs YOUR help.  We are asking for monetary donations to help support the program.  As of today, we need approximately $18,500 to make this happen.  Please find the joy somewhere in your heart to make a child’s dream come true.  All donations are tax deductible.  100% of all donations go to the children.  (The breakfast is donated by Walmart and Doug’s Place Restaurant.  All “Hero’s” donate their time and are not paid for participating.)

If you wish to donate, please contact Investigator Megan Kincer at 770-382-5050 ext. 6067 or Sgt. Jonathan Rogers at 770-382-5050 ext. 6032.  The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office can make arrangements to pick up any donations if needed.
