ATLANTA (August 20, 2026) — Chairman of the Georgia Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R–Rome), was recently named Vice-Chair to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) State and Local Taxation Task Force.

“Serving as vice-chair of NCSL’s State and Local Taxation Task Force is an honor and a great opportunity to share what has worked here at home while learning from other states,” said Sen. Hufstetler. “As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, I know that responsible tax policy has played a key role in maintaining Georgia’s AAA bond rating and balanced budget through both strong and challenging economic times. I look forward to working with legislators across the country to modernize and bolster our tax systems while preserving the ability of states to make their own decisions.”

NCSL’s State and Local Taxation Task Force is composed of 77 members, including two co-chairs and two vice chairs. Members examine emerging tax policy matters facing state legislatures and work together to develop recommendations that help states update and reform their tax systems.

Founded in 1975 by state legislators and legislative staff, the National Conference of State Legislatures represents the nation’s 50 states, commonwealths, territories and the District of Columbia. NCSL supports state legislatures by encouraging collaboration and information sharing, and by promoting effective legislative institutions across the country.
