Desmond Brown and Devin Watts

 A Rome man charged in a double homicide was apprehended in Cartersville.  On May 13th, two women were found dead under the Etowah Bridge at Loop 1 in Floyd County.  The women were identified as 19 year old Vanita Richardson, and 31 year old, Trevena Clarece Campbell both of Rome.  A GBI Medical Examiner has completed an autopsy on the sisters.

Twenty eight yeard old, Desmond Lavonta Brown of Rome was arrested in Bartow by the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the Bartow/Cartersville Drug Task Force and charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.  He was taken to the Bartow County Jail and later transferred to the Floyd County Jail and charged with murder. 

The GBI held a press conference Thursday and announced the following people were arrested in the double murder investigation. 

  1.  Desmond Lavonta Brown, age 28, charged with Malice Murder (2cts), Felony Murder (2 cts), Aggravated Battery (2cts), Aggravated Assault (2cts), Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by First Offender Probationer, Theft by Taking, Tampering with Evidence (3cts), False Statements and Writings, and Abandonment of a Dead Body (2cts).
  1. Devin Lashawn Watts, age 36, charged with Malice Murder (2cts), Felony Murder (2 cts), Aggravated Battery (2cts), Aggravated Assault (2cts), Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Theft by Taking, Tampering with Evidence (3cts), False Statements and Writings, and Abandonment of a Dead Body (2cts).
  1. Christopher Leedarius Pullen, age 23, charged with Felony Murder (2cts), Aggravated Battery (2cts), Aggravated Assault (2cts), Abandonment of Dead Body (2cts), Tampering with Evidence (3cts), Theft by Taking, False Statements and Writings.   

All three are in custody at the Floyd County Jail.
