Chief Thomas Culpepper and Chief Scott Carter of the Cartersville Police and Fire Departments, have advised that a Citizens Public Safety Academy will be held starting Tuesday, September 9, 2014 and will run each Tuesday evening through Tuesday, November 4, 2014.  The Academy will be held at the Public Safety Headquarters located at 195 Cassville Road from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

The Academy will be limited to 15 students, age 18 or older, in order to ensure that each student has ample time for hands on, practical training.  The classes will alternate between Police and Fire training.

Those interested in attending will need to complete a brief application in person at the Police Department window at the Public Safety Headquarters as the Police Department will maintain the roster of applicants.  Each applicant will need to undergo a Criminal History check prior to being accepted.  Phone call inquiries may be made by calling 770-382-2526.

This is the first year that the Academy will consist of both Fire and Police training.  Both Chief Carter and Chief Culpepper stated that they were excited at the opportunity to provide this combined training.
