One Fatality Reported in Cartersville House Fire

A house fire took the life of one-person last night in Cartersville, what follows is a release issued by the Cartersville Fire Department:

On February 17^th, 2023 at 2047, Cartersville Fire Department; along with Bartow Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to 9 Brookwood Drive in reference to a residential structure fire. Bartow County 911 received a phone call from a local neighbor, that stated the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed heavy fire and smoke involvement and began defensive operations. One fatality was confirmed. The cause of the cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.

The County Coroner stated that a positive ID on the fatality could not be made, and that the GBI is currently working on making a positive ID.
