Jerry Wayne Bagley, Jr.

Jury selection began early Monday morning for a murder case involving a Cartersville man.  Twenty-two year-old Jerry Wayne Bagley, Jr. was arrested in April 2017 and charged with causing the death of an 11-week old child.  He was indicted on numerous charges including malice murder, felony murder, first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated battery, second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.  According to a press release, law enforcement was called to a residence on Cedar Creek Road on April 24, 2017, to investigate an infant suffering from a reported cardiac arrest. The 11-week old child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta for treatment but died four days later. An autopsy performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the child died as a result of homicide. The cause of death was found to be craniocerebral trauma.

Investigators filed warrants against 21 year old, Wayne Bagley Jr.  According to the indictment, Bagley caused the death of Onnah Noel Bagley by shaking her back and forth sometime between April 24th and April 28th , 2017.  The indictment also alleges that Bagley failed to seek medical attention for the girl in a timely manner.
