Eighteen-year-old Jeremy Matthew Pereira died in the crash that occurred, Monday, August 30, at 10:12 p.m.  According to Georgia State Patrol reports, troopers were called to Highway 411 near Kingston Elementary School.  According to reports, a tractor-trailer was traveling west on Highway 411 near mile marker 5.  A 2014 Nissan 370Z was traveling east on 411.  The tractor-trailer crossed the grass median of the highway, entering into the east lanes and struck the front of the Nissan 370Z.  After impact, the Nissan came to an uncontrolled rest and caught on fire. The tractor-trailer continued west in the east lanes before exiting the roadway off the south side of the roadway. The tractor-trailer then overturned onto its left side, traveled down the embankment, striking several trees as it came to an uncontrolled rest. The tractor-trailer also caught on fire. The driver of the Nissan, 18-year-old, Jeremy Matthew Pereira, of West Newbury, MA, suffered fatal injuries. The passenger suffered severe burns to his body and was transported to Floyd Medical. The tractor-trailer driver suffered lacerations to his face and was also transported to Floyd Medical. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with this investigation.
