Elian Carlos Saucedo, 17, of Cartersville, was arrested this week after reports said he led police on a high-speed chase on Ga 1, East 2nd Avenue, and again on GA 20.
Police said that they attempted to stop Saucedo for speeding when he fled away at rate rates of speed. At points in the chase, he was clocked at driving at 113 mph in a 35 mph zone while weaving in and out of traffic (on double yellow lines), failing to yield right and way, and running lights. He was also clocked at 115 in a 55 zone.
After stopping, officers discovered that Saucedo had been driving on a suspended license and was in possession of a stolen Beretta handgun.
Saucedo is charged with theft by theft by receiving stolen property, driving on a suspended license, attempting to elude police, failure to obey traffic control devices, failure to yield the right of way, passing in a no-pass zone, reckless driving, two counts improper lane change, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, improper passing, speeding in a construction zone, failure to yield while turning left, speeding, six counts failure to maintain lane, two counts headlight requirement, and operation of a vehicle on approach of an authorities emergency vehicle.
